Sog - Iris Compiet

Drenchen hunter in Sog

Sog, also known as the Swamp of Sog, was a region in southern Skarith bordering the Spriton Plains and the Misty Mountains. It was characterized by its tropical climate and consisted primarily of dense Apeknot jungles growing from freshwater lakes.[1] It saw little seasonal variation, and maintained the same humid climate, high temperature and daily rainfall throughout the trine.[2]

It was the homeland of the Drenchen Clan, who, according to the story Ipsy and the Great Seed, colonized the area under the leadership of Maudra Ipsim Vlisabi-Nara, who was also credited with having planted the seed of Smerth-Staba, Sog's Great Tree.[3]

Thriya considered the swamp of Sog an area that had "created a hunting environment unlike any other", being rich in animal life,[4] with fish being particularly abundant.[5] Among its animals were:

Flora[]

Because of its invariably warm climate and plentiful rainfall, Sog was rich in flowers, which were larger and grew more abundantly than anywhere else in Skarith.[18] Sogflowers were among the most common, and grew from the swamp beds.[19]

Much of Sog was covered by a dense canopy of Apeknot Trees, which grew there exclusively.[20] Their outgrowth was so densely packed that it was hard to discern where one tree began and another ended.[1] It was popularly believed that they originated from Smerth-Staba, the region's Great Tree and patron of the Drenchen Clan.[21]
