The Silver Sea Clan was a legendary Gelfling Clan featured in the Song of the Six Sisters. According to the narrative, the Silver Sea Clan originated during the Age of Innocence alongside the Dousan, Sifa, Stonewood, Spriton and Drenchen Clans, and was entrusted by Thra to act as the guardian of "the records of shadow and light". As Thra had however intended to create seven clans, the Silver Sea Clan was divided into Vapra and Grottan, with the former seeing to the light, and the latter the shadow.[1]
The actual origin of the Grottans was much more recent than implied in the story, with the clan having been created as a direct result of the Skeksis sending Gelfling colonists to Grot during their wars of conquest.[2] By at least the early Age of Division, the Grottans were the only Gelfling to widely believe the story.[1]
