Onica met Brea when she entered their ship seeking answers about a symbol. Although her Elder, Cadia, thought the symbol meant death and attempted to poison and attack Brea in accordance with this, Onica knocked him out, as she believed the symbol could lead to life. She sent Brea away to get her mother's brightest jewel in exchange for her help, telling Brea to return the next night.
Brea brought back the jewel just in time, only for Onica to reveal that the jewel wasn't for payment, but so that the unamoth inside could guide Brea to the answers she sought. Onica sang to it and had Brea speak her desire to the moth, causing the chrysalis container to open and the unamoth to fly away, Brea following.
Other appearances Edit
In J.M. Lee’s young adult novel, Tides of the Dark Crystal, Onica was introduced as Tavra’s romantic partner of many trine. They met when Tavra saved Onica and her friend, Tae, from a devastating storm near Ha’rar. During that storm, Onica lost her wings.
Onica was a gifted Far-Dreamer and soothsayer, able to hear—and directly communicate with—the Song of Thra. She was a long-time friend and advisor to the Sifa Maudra, Ethri, with whom she was friends before Ethri became Maudra. It was thanks to this relationship that the Sifa were the first clan to light their Fire of Resistance and join the Gelfling Gathering.
