History

DC DCP324

Kira of Thra.

Kira is a kind, gentle and sweet young girl of an unknown age. She is a Gelfling, and was orphaned as a baby. Fearful of a prophecy that they believed meant the Gelfling would destroy their race, the cruel Skeksis organized a Garthim to exterminate them.

Kira was the sole survivor of this attack, hidden in a hollow tree by her mother shortly before her own murder. Left to fend for herself, until Kira stumbled upon help and was taken in by the tribe of the friendly little Podlings and raised by her adoptive foster mother Ydra.

Kira was taught by the Podlings and seemingly educated in their ways. She grew into a passionate individual filled with life and compassion. Kira learned how to talk with the flowers and speak the language of all the living things. She embraced the essence of life itself and fell in love with the world and it's wondrous beauty.

One day, while accompanied by her pet and sidekick, Fizzgig, Kira's thirst for adventure is sparked when they stumble upon the last surviving Gelfling boy, Jen. At first, the two are astonished with one another as both of them believed that each was the only living Gelfling in existence.

Kira decides to join Jen on his quest and the two of them become friends, and later something deeper. Jen explains to Kira that his own adoptive clan called the gentle Mystics have sent him on an important mission to restore the small broken shard to The Crystal, a very powerful giant Crystal that is inside of the Crystal Palace, which had been overthrown by the Skeksis long ago. There the Crystal floats, levitating effortlessly above a shaft of air and fire and is used by the Skeksis to rejuvenate themselves and live as immortals.

The shard must be properly inserted back into the crystal before the three suns in the sky meet and line together, which will permanently set the land's fate. If not, the Skeksis will rule and live forever. With the help of Kira, Jen sets out on a dangerous quest to bring their fragile world to it's proper order once again as Gelfling are the destined rulers of the land.

Trivia

  • Unlike male Gelfling, Kira bears a beautiful pair of wings on her back which allows her to fly.
