Kam'lu[1]

Kam'lu was a male Gelfling of the Sifa Clan who lived during the late Age of Division. He was captain of the Scalene Anchor and supporter of Fenth's Age of Sifans project.[1] Prior to this, he had already lived a life of adventure, having traversed the Crystal Desert and survived the Arathim Wars with only a canoe.[2] He was Mayrin's husband and the father of Seladon, Tavra and Brea.

Biography[]

Despite his separatist beliefs, Kam'lu accepted to ferry the newly crowned All-Maudra Mayrin to neutral ground in order to negotiate with Fenth. He took an instant dislike to her, resenting her grandstanding on his own ship and refused to address her by her full royal title. On their way to the negotiation, Kam'lu was saved from drowning by Mayrin, after his ship was destroyed by the Mondo Levidian.[1] The two were subsequently swallowed by the sea monster and encountered the Boblings within its intestinal tract. While being guided by the Bobling princess Gunda to the Mondo Levidian's porticol, Kam'lu took offence at being perpetually mistaken for Mayrin's servant.[2]

During the journey, Kam'lu grew to respect Mayrin after she saved him from a horde of Zoa, and later pledged to serve her for life after she carried him out of the Mondo Levidian's porticol.[3] The pair boarded skekSa's Dreadnought and, during the subsequent battle with the Zoa, Kam'lu saved Mayrin from an assassination attempt by Fenth, renouncing his prior secessionist beliefs. At the conclusion of the skirmish, Kam'lu urged his Sifan compatriots to accept Mayrin's leadership. The two got married some time later at Raunip's Pass, and decided to name their first daughter after Mayrin's mother: Seladon.[4]
