In time of need the seven came,
lest Gelfling Clans all end, a weapon made of life and death,
the Dual Glave to defend.
From Thra we come,
And all must go,
whose soul by Glaive was torn.
Wielded in the face of war,
then buried deep forever more.
The Dual Glaive was a bladed weapon created by skekGra the Heretic and urGoh the Wanderer during the mid to late Age of Division. As the name suggests, the weapon was composed of two swords formed into one, with the Shard of the Division being incorporated into the hilt. The Glaive was sharp enough to perforate the carapace of the Arathim Ascendancy, and had the ability to drain its victims of essence, which was absorbed through the blade into the Shard.
History[edit | edit source]
Having glimpsed into the future, skekGra and urGoh saw that the path to reunification for both the Skeksis and Mystics lay in the hands of the Gelfling. After finding the Shard of the Division, the two ancients forged the Dual Glaive around it from the fires of Thra's inner sun. It was their hope that the Dual Glaive in the hands of a Gelfling would unite the seven clans and end the rule of the Skeksis. After the Heretic and Wanderer were branded as fugitives by the other Skeksis, they hid the Dual Glaive in the Caves of Grot, placing it in a chamber inaccessible to all but Gelflings.
During the Arathim Wars, the Stonewood Clan's Maudra Vala learned of the Dual Glaive from Porton's volumes of his adventures. Ordon volunteered to retrieve the Dual Glaive from the Caves of Grot, where it was kept in the Tomb of Relics. After Ordon acquired the Glaive with help from Fara, he left the caves and used it to achieve victory in the First Battle of Stone-in-the-Wood by slaying the Ascendancy. Horrified at the blade's ability to drain its victims essence, and fearing the attention it would attract, Ordon split the Glaive in half, hiding one piece in the Crucible and entrusting the other to Argot who hid it in her cane.
Thirty trine later, Rian managed to reunite the halves of the Glaive, lighting the fires of resistance across the seven clans and rallied them to rebel against the Skeksis. In the Second Battle of Stone-in-the-Wood, Rian used it to defeat skekVar in a duel; however, it was broken by a revived skekMal. After the battle, Brea found that the pommel was in fact the Shard of the Division and therefore the true key in ending the power of the Skeksis, according to Aughra.
