David Odell (born July 28, 1943) is an Emmy Award-winning screenwriter and film director. He wrote the screenplay for The Dark Crystal and Power of the Dark Crystal. Odell first worked with Jim Henson as part of the writing team on The Muppet Show, and also received a "special thanks" credit on The Muppet Movie.
Odell's other credits include screenplays for the feature films Supergirl and Masters of the Universe and several episodes of the TV anthology Monsters. He also directed the 1990 comedy film Martians Go Home.
