Aughrian language

Aughra incanting in Aughrian

The Aughrian language was the native tongue of Aughra. The name itself was coined by J. J. Llewellyn to distinguish it from the Gelfling, Skeksis and urRu texts within the Book of Aughra.[1]

Described by scholars as "harsh, broken, cryptic, often archaic", accurate translations from Aughrian were difficult due to much of the meaning behind the language lying in its associations rather than the literal meaning of its words.[1]

Much of the vocabulary was apparently similar to Amharic, and was written in a combination of Sassanian cursive and Bactrian.[1]
