Arathim

A giant Silk Spitter attacking a Stonewood village

The Arathim Wars were a series of armed conflicts between the Arathim and the Alliance of the Crystal that took place throughout the Age of Division. Hostility between the Arathim and the Alliance began during the Skeksis' conquest of Skarith, when the new Lords of the Crystal demanded that the Arathim submit to them. Upon being refused, the Skeksis drove the Arathim out of their ancient homeland of Grot and re-populated it with loyal Gelfling subjects, the ancestors of the Grottan Clan.[1]

During the late Age of Division, the Arathim began a large-scale assault on the Gelfling, taking a Vapran princess prisoner[2] and attacking Stonewood villages, prompting Skeksis forces led by skekVar to start an extermination campaign against them and nearly driving the Arathim subspecies of Poison spitters to extinction.[3] The Wars concluded with an Alliance victory during the First Battle of Stone-in-the-Wood.[4]

Other Continuities[]

In the continuity established by the Young Adult Novels, the First Arathim Wars were a result of the separation of the Grottan and Vapra clan. Gyr was called upon by the Skeksis to drive the Arathim out of Domrak with his firca, dream-etching hundreds of thousands of words into the Caves of Grot in the process.[5]
