Template:Species2The Arathim (collectively known as the ascendency) are a species of giant spiders. They initially lived in the Caves of Grot but were cast out and defeated by the Skeksis. Hundreds of trine later, the Arathim formed an uneasy alliance with the Skeksis to retake their home, but after learning they were tricked and were going to be killed by the Darkening, they allied themselves with the Gelflings, their sworn enemies.
There are two known breeds.
- SilkSpitters: Large six legged variant that catch their pray using a regurgitated liquid web that solidifies.
- CrystalSingers: Small three legged variant that latch onto the sides of their victim's face and use there singing to control their victim's mind.
After an Arathim was slain, skekTek the Scientist used it to create the hybrid species with the Gruenak, the Garthim.[1]
